Welcome to Glendale Community College Nursing Department Simulation Lab!
Welcome to Glendale Community College's Nursing Simulation Lab. We are located in the new Life Science building on the north side of the campus. Our Simulation Lab provides high fidelity manikins with focus on Beginning Medical/Surgical, Advanced Medical/Surgical, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Neonatal patient scenarios. The Simulation Lab was uniquely designed to help enhance student learning in a safe environment. Students are able to apply knowledge that they have gained, practice time management, improve critical thinking, and have an opportunity to assume the role of a Registered Nurse. There is limited space available and Simulation is by appointment only. These arrangements are made through the course instructor.
Medical/Surgical
- The Simulation Lab has three adult manikins that are high fidelity and interactive. These manikins are able to provide vital signs, lung sounds, pulses, ECG monitoring at the bedside, produce urine, seize, pupil reaction, and even speak!
- The Simulation environment is set up similar to a hospital setting. This allows students an opportunity to familiarize themselves in a safe learning environment. Supplies needed for the scenarios are provided during simulation.
Obstetrics and Women's Health
- The Simulation Lab also has female manikins who are also high fidelity and interactive. These mothers deliver babies and provide a great learning environment for students who are in their Obstetrics rotation.
Neonatal and Pediatric
- The Simulations do not stop there, we also have neonatal and pediatric manikins. The students are able to complete new born assessments, vital signs, lung sounds, and assess the newborn fontanelles.
- The pediatric patient scenarios give the students an opportunity to work with unique patient situations that they may also experience in the clinical setting.
